The abuse must stop

In Westhoughton we care about our community and this includes our staff.

Both Unsworth Group Practice and Stablefold surgery will not accept abusive behaviour towards our reception staff.

We understand our phones are busy and it’s tough to get through.

We understand the challenges with increased demand for consultations (and we are doing our best to look at solutions).

We understand it can be scary if you or a loved one are unwell and you want to see a clinician.

However, these reasons do not justify unacceptable behaviour.

We are all people too.

Please help us to help you.

Many thanks from the Partners & Management teams Unsworth Group Practice & Stable Fold Surgery

Coronavirus Vaccine Programme update

Coronavirus Vaccine Programme update

A massive thank you to all the Westhoughton patients, staff and volunteers.

Please see below for the current information as of 08/06/2021.

We are now contacting our original cohorts to confirm second dose vaccination dates. We are working on bringing forward second dose vaccinations.

These dates have been slightly amended due to vaccine delivery schedules and updated guidance.

We now have 2nd vaccine delivery dates for those patients who were vaccinated on 8th May. We will be in touch either via message or phone- possibly a private number call. You must confirm your second dose appointment to secure your vaccine. If you turn up without a confirmed appointment time we will not have an allocated vaccine for you.

These are being released in batches. Please be patient.

Please remember for full protection you need 2 doses of vaccine.

Please note the Pfizer vaccine CANNOT be given as a home visit so as per your first dose (unless there is a significant clinical change) then you will need to attend Peter House.

Original vaccination date

Confirmed 2nd dose

 26/6/21 AZ vaccine

If you have a mobile and don’t have access to the internet on your phone- then you can TEXT your INITIALS and DOB to our hotline number and we will get back to you (may be a private number)

07730 765245.

Please be assured we have a list of everyone on the original clinics and are doing our upmost to ensure you are booked in for your second!

We are aware regarding the publicity surrounding some potential concerns surrounding the Astra Zeneca vaccine- below is a really useful link. AZ clinics are continuing to go ahead as we know this vaccine saves lives! Please- if you had your first dose and were fine then you can have your second dose- even if you are under 30. Please just don’t turn up- contact us if you aren’t sure.

Nationally there are two ways in which patients are being contacted for their first vaccine.  If you are 25 years old or older, and well, you will have received a letter or text from NHS England inviting you to be vaccinated at a site alternative to Peter House (a ‘mass vaccination site’). You can also arrange your own vaccine at a mass vaccination site via the link below providing you have received your letter.

The second way you can get vaccinated is via your GP surgery- these invites are being run in parallel to the mass vaccination sites.

If you prefer to be vaccinated at Peter House then we have invited you via text message if we have a mobile number for you. Otherwise we are contacting you on the phone.

As per national guidance, all first doses for <40s will be either Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Our next first dose Pfizer clinics will be 26/6/21.

Text invites are going out to eligible groups for these clinics.

If you have been vaccinated elsewhere please DECLINE our invite, this frees up an invitation space for someone else.

If you are currently eligible and have not had or arranged your vaccine yet (or you are unsure about your eligibility), please text “COVID” plus YOUR INITIALS and DATE OF BIRTH to the vaccine hotline number 07730 765245 and we will contact you with an appointment/ discussion (this may be a call from a ‘private number’). If you are unable to text, please contact the surgery directly. If you are truly housebound and in these groups then let us know and we can arrange to see you at home.

If you are pregnant and wish to be vaccinated please contact us via our vaccine hotline or via online consult as we need to book you on to a specific Pfizer clinic as per national guidance.

If you live with a severely immunosuppressed individual then we will have sent them a letter advising that household contacts can now be vaccinated regardless of age (16+). Please contact us on the vaccine hotline via text to make an appointment.

If you have questions regarding your suitability for a particular vaccine, please read the information on the link above. If you are still unclear, then you can contact us via online consult with your question and we will get back to you.

Where possible, please do not contact the surgery with vaccine queries as it stops poorly patients getting through on the phone.

Please follow our social media for the most up to date information regarding our vaccination programme.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone involved in this, the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history.

COVID-19 Vaccination certification

We are currently unable to issue this certificate at the practice.

Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/demonstrating-your-covid-19-vaccination-status-when-travelling-abroad for further information.

Proof of your vaccination status will be available on the NHSapp, (which is also valuable for things like ordering repeat prescriptions)

The NHSapp can be downloaded from https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nhs-app/id1388411277 for iPhone or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nhs.online.nhsonline for android.

Alternatively you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May 2021) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you have completed your course of the vaccine and the letter may to take up to 5 days to reach you.

Kind regards
