CORONAVIRUS VACCINATION PROGRAMME UPDATE
We are hoping to start delivering Covid vaccinations in Westhoughton from early January.
We are under strict guidance from NHS England about who we can vaccinate. The first group of patients will be the over 80’s.
The vaccine is very delicate and once delivered cannot be moved and is only allowed to be given from one designated site. Both patients from Unsworth group practice and Stablefold surgery will be vaccinated together. This means that at present we will be unable to vaccinate any patients who are completely housebound.
Your usual GP surgery will contact you directly when it is your time to be vaccinated with further details about how to make an appointment and where to attend. Unfortunately we will have very little notice regarding delivery date and once the vaccines are delivered they only have a short shelf life during which we can use them.
Please do not contact the surgery regarding vaccines as this may prevent an unwell patient getting through on the phone.
If you wish to be vaccinated please make every effort to attend on the date given. You will then require a second dose of the vaccine around 12 weeks later. It is very important you attend for both vaccines.
As you can imagine this is a huge challenge for all the staff involved; please be patient, flexible and work with us to ensure we all keep safe.
