Patients registered with Unsworth Group Practice and Stable Fold Surgery can now access a dedicated service for contraceptive coil and implant fitting, removal and replacement.

Coils and implants are examples of Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), which have many advantages over alternative contraception methods such as the pill. 

LARC is contraception that doesn't depend on you remembering to take or use it to be effective. They are highly effective at preventing pregnancy.

If you are registered with Unsworth Group Practice or Stable Fold Surgery and would like to access this service you can be referred by a clinician at your GP Practice or you can refer yourself to the LARC service by filling out the following self-referral form https://forms.office.com/e/Cvun8Q0VFc

You will receive a telephone triage call and if deemed suitable a face to face appointment will be arranged. Face to face appointments are currently offered at Peter House Surgery, Captain Lees Road, Westhoughton, Bolton, BL5 3UB.

The data will be visible to trained NHS staff only. 

The United Kingdom Medicines Health Regulatory Authority (MHRA) has approved an extension to the Mirena licence from 5 years to 8 years for contraception. There has not been an extension to the licensed duration of use when being used for the management of heavy menstrual bleeding, or for endometrial protection as part of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

This service is only available to patients registered at Unsworth Group Practice and Stable Fold Surgery.
